What a skatepark helmet is for, and how to fit it
A helmet only works if it stays put the moment you fall. On a ramp or a module, the head is often what hits first, even for a rider who's been at it for years. The Motion Helmet covers skate, stunt scooter and roller skating: tough shell, vents so you don't cook in summer, an adjustment system to dial in head size. Three colours, Black, White and Color Pop, in sizes S to L.
Fitting it is a two-step job. Adjust the shell to head size first, then the side straps so the chin strap sits under the chin without pressing on the throat. A properly fitted helmet doesn't shift when you shake your head up and down. If it slides forward or back, that's the adjustment at fault, not necessarily the size.
What protective gear to start with
Knees, elbows and wrists take most of the impact while you're learning. The Skatepark Pad Set covers all three at once: knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards, six matching pieces, rigid shells and adjustable straps, sizes S to L. It works for skate, stunt scooter and roller skating.
Helmet and pad set complement each other rather than replace one another, one for the head, the other for the points that hit the ground. Since both cover several disciplines, one set of gear is enough when skate and scooter share the same household.
S, M or L
The helmet and the pad set come in sizes S to L. Gear that's too loose shifts about and stops doing its job, gear that's too tight comes off within ten minutes. When torn between two sizes, go a size up, especially for a child who'll grow into it.
Kitting out a child
The S to L range covers young riders and adults alike. For a child just starting out, the kids scooter selection and the protective gear and safety guide explain what to get and in what order.
Frequently asked questions
Does one helmet work for both skate and scooter?
Yes. The Motion Helmet is built for skate, stunt scooter and roller skating.
Does the pad set suit roller skating?
Yes, the six pieces cover all three disciplines.
Do I need to buy the helmet and the pads separately?
They're two separate products, each at 34.90 €. Nothing stops you starting with just one, but at the skatepark the two go together.
From what age should you wear a helmet?
From the very first go, whatever the age. To head out kitted from day one, see the skateboard range and the full set of ACTA guides.
